Message from the Department Chair

The Medical School's Department of Diagnostic Radiology has been a leader for more than 75 years in the field of diagnostic imaging - providing excellent education, innovative research, and exceptional patient care.

Learning to use diagnostic imaging is part of lifelong learning and professional development for our medical students, residents, and fellows.

Radiology faculty are dedicated to cutting edge clinical and basic science research. In addition to individual faculty efforts, a number of research centers exist within the department, including the Center for Interdisciplinary Medical Image Processing, the Center for Industrial Applications for MRI, and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research.

Now more than ever, the Department of Radiology looks to meet the challenges of appropriateness, proficiency, and safety in this rapidly changing health-care environment.

Charles A. Dietz, Jr., M.D.
Chairman and Associate Professor of Radiology
