    The Medical School's Department of Radiology has been a leader for more than 75 years in the field of diagnostic imaging - providing excellent education, innovative research, and exceptional patient care.

It is the mission of the Department of Radiology to continuously improve the health of the people of Minnesota and beyond, through innovative, high quality and effective patient care, education, and research, in the field of Radiology.  


Learning to use diagnostic imaging is part of lifelong learning and professional development for our medical students, residents, and fellows.

The Department of Radiology is involved in or responsible for many research facilities, either within the hospital or on the University of Minnesota campus. The Radiology Research Office provides assistance and information for department personnel in aspects of conducting research.

Patient Care

There are four major teaching hospitals that form an integral part of the University of Minnesota's Radiology Program. They are University of Minnesota Health, the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Hennepin County Medical Center
